All but a few have heard of the stunning Cherry Blossoms in Washington D.C. in the spring.  Yet it is not widely known that there are spectacular Cherry Blossoms as well in Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.  On this beautiful spring day on April 21, 2018, Bergen Runners organized a Theme Run to enjoy the magnificent view that springtime had to offer.

The Branch Brook Park loop is a 4.3 mile loop trail that is suitable for runners of all skill levels. After taking the group photo in front of the “Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart”, which looks identical to the “Notre-Dame de Paris”, our runners broke out into several smaller groups based on their skill levels. Even though groups were running at different paces, they all enchanted by the marvelous cherry blossoms and stopped to snap some pictures.

We ended the theme run with new found appreciation for the beautiful cherry blossoms backdrop right in our neck of the woods!  We suspect some of us may skip a trip to Washington D.C. next year and return to the Branch Brook Park instead for a quick getaway and Cherry Blossoms sighting.
